The great folks at Red Giant Software put together a useful resource for motion graphic designers called Red Giant People. Much like the now defunct Trapcode People website, Red Giant People is a place where anyone can submit their own After Effects presets. The library is already off to a good start and is a growing resource of free goodies.

Xbreaker for Cinema 4D

XBreaker is a fantastic plug-in for fracturing geometry by Nitroman. It works with primitives, nurbs objects, splines and polygons. I found this great tutorial by Jerzy Drozda Jr to create an advanced 3D planet. So I took the .AEP file and modified it a little and rendered the video for you. It is 25 seconds long at 720p and 24fps. Enjoy.

Plasma Explosion

In 2007 the guys at Motionworks had a AE explosion challenge:

“In 2007 Motionwork ran a challenge to see who could create the best explosion using Adobe After Effects and Trapcode Particular. All 11 finalist projects have been compiled for you to use in your own projects.”

The DMN After Effects Channel had an article on Creating Animated Backgrounds so I thought I would create my own variation just in time for Christmas. It is a 20 second 720p loop with Red, Green and white light rays.
